Our Story

Enjoy the Journey ( 2 minutes )

I like to make things. When you grow up in a quiet rural area, your imagination often soars way beyond what can be done in reality. I wanted to build just about anything and everything I could imagine. Most of my ideas never made it beyond a silly daydream but it was immensely fun.

I take after my maternal grandfather who was an accomplished self-taught mechanic, maker, gardener and cook. Given any amount of time at home alone as a young kid ( this happened more often than you might think ), I quickly found myself making all manner of strange concoctions in the kitchen. There was also a lot of rushing around to make something and then cleaning-up the mess before anyone caught me in the act. There were definitely some close calls along the way!

Always curious about how things were made, food was a ready source of inspiration and experimentation for me. I have never grown out of this desire to cook, which led to many night classes, lots of cooking shows, and endless trial and error over the years. I briefly entertained the idea of becoming a chef. Very briefly. I simply would not survive the rough and tumble world of a professional kitchen. My simple goals have always centred around learning, enjoying the experience and eating great tasting food!

Cooking is a nice creative outlet for me and it brings the added benefit of having delicious food with friends, family or just for yourself. I strongly believe we need to shift our diet from being centred on animal protein to one focused more on the consumption of plant foods. I started soux-chef.com to help you easily create more tasty food options that move us in this direction. A helpful kitchen companion in our time-starved world.

Enjoy the Journey!
